Multnomah county ballot drop box near me1/18/2024 Ballots that are challenged because of signature issues may still be resolved up to 21 days after Election Day. Will the updated City elections code affect voters’ opportunity to resolve ballot signature issues?Ī: No. The ballot will look something like the image on the right. Voters will still receive their ballot and return it by mail or in a drop box. Candidates will be elected in general elections in November of even years. Also, for city candidate contests, there will be no primary election. Filed candidates and spaces for write-in candidates will be listed in a grid, and the voter can rank up to six of the candidates for each contest. What about the voter experience is changing?Ī: The biggest change for voters is that they will be able to rank candidates in order of preference for City contests. If the code amendments are adopted by City Council, the City will also certify write-in candidates. The City also administers its own campaign finance program and offers periodic voter education campaigns. Once tabulation is completed by the County, Portland City Council certifies those results and provides each elected candidate with a certificate. What is the City of Portland’s Elections Office’s role during elections?Ī: The City of Portland provides candidate education, receives and processes candidate filings, and refers qualified candidates to Multnomah County for inclusion on upcoming ballots. Each county conducts all local, city, county, state, and federal elections for the voters of all political districts within the respective county. What is the Multnomah County Elections Division’s role during elections?Ī: State statute specifies that counties are responsible for conducting elections. Visit the commission’s website for more information about the districting process and how to submit comments. The districting process is managed by the community-led Independent District Commission. Are the four geographic districts that will be used for electing the expanded city council specified in the code?Ī: No. This collaborative effort resulted in the final version of the proposed code language that was submitted to the City Council for consideration and adoption. A community listening session was held, staff presentations were made at community meetings, and online comments were collected with the purpose of obtaining feedback about the proposed code amendments and voter education needs. The draft code was posted to the website and presented to stakeholders and the community to obtain feedback and public comment. Then, the City Transition team initiated stakeholder engagement outreach.

Best wall tiles for bathroom1/18/2024 ‘Typically, porcelain tiles are popular for bathroom walls in both small and larger formats. It's a practical tile as it's nearly waterproof, and is suited to the humidity and condensation of a the space. Porcelain is one of the best materials for bathroom and kitchen walls and is used often for shower tile ideas too. This is because fewer grout lines give the walls more continuity, creating the illusion of a larger space.’ What's the best material for wall tiles? Yousef Mansuri, head of design at CP Hart, explains, ‘If it’s a compact space and it's small bathroom tile ideas you need, we recommend large format tiles. Take the size of your room into account, too. Each is easily achievable and is more dependent on aesthetic than ability to install.’ ‘Pattern options include straight joint, brick, and herringbone. ‘A standard format rectangular field tile offers the ability to create a distinct look depending on the layout,’ says Carol Butsko. There are a huge range of tile layout patterns. Wall tiles are available in a whole host of shapes, sizes, colors and finishes, which can be arranged in a number of different ways, so take time to think about the look you’d like to achieve. When it comes to planning a wall tile layout, it's important to do your research. (Image credit: Fired Earth) How do I plan a wall tile layout? For a neat finish, use a grout finishing tool to go over the joins. Our complete guide on grouting has the details, but bear in mind that once the adhesive has completely dried, you need to mix up the grout and use a grout float to work it into the joins between the tiles. Starting from the bottom of the main design, lay the cut tiles in the same ways as the full tiles. Accounting for the spacer, mark the measurement on a tile and scour a line, before snapping the tile. Measure the gap between the last full tile and the wall. When the adhesive has completely dried remove the wooden battens. Use the wooden batten and capenter’s level to ensure the tiles are straight and level. Repeat with the rest of the tiles, inserting spacers between each one. Apply the tile firmly with a slight twisting action. Lay the full tilesįrom your starting point, use a notched spreader to cover part of the wall in adhesive. Repeat the entire process again vertically, before screwing wooden battens into place over the lines – your starting point is the corner where the battens meet. Mark on the wall where the last tile would end, and using a carpenter’s level, draw a line to the ceiling. Move the gauge to the left mark by mark, until the wooden batten is close to the corner of the wall. Measuring the wall horizontally find the midpoint and align the first line on the tile gauge with it. Place it on the floor next to a row of tiles, with spacers in between and mark each tile on the wooden batten. It’s important to work out the starting point, just as you do when tiling in a shower or tiling a floor. Avoid any stark color discrepancies by mixing tiles from several boxes, this will help achieve a blend of color, texture and pattern. Lay them out of the floor, to test out any patterns. Mix up the tiles to avoid color discrepancies TCNA (Tile Council of North America) Handbook for Ceramic, Glass, and Stone Tile Installation offers selection guides for various types of tile and installation materials.’ 2. The backer board will be applied to the studs (wood or metal) according to the manufacturer’s guidelines. ‘There are multiple types of backer boards available: choose the type best suited to the application and tile product.

Pinbox 3000 2 player1/18/2024 This one would also be really good for something like Skee-Ball and would really keep the BoM cost down compared to say, IR break-beam targets or coin slot switches. You could use it for all kinds of things, like getting the ball to a basement level of a pinball game, or if you want to be evil, set it up in the drain area and deduct points every time you lose the ball, or just use it to trigger the next ball to drop. The flappy hole target is probably our favorite because it’s the most adaptable. The drawbridge target uses a cardboard hinge and the weight of the ball to force two pieces of tape together to complete the circuit. This one looks to be the trickiest since the rails have to be consistently spaced, otherwise the ball will fall. After all, what fun is a pinball machine without at least one pair of rails to ride? Might as well score some points at the same time. With the possible exception of not being solderable (can you solder it? ours hasn’t showed up yet), maker tape is seemingly superior to copper tape because it is designed to be conductive in the Z-direction, and if you’ve ever laid out a copper tape circuit, you know that tape overlaps are pretty much par for the course.įirst on the list is the track switch, which we think is pretty much necessary. They all use fresh, pristine cardboard from the Bezos Barn and a conductive fabric tape made by Brown Dog Gadgets that they call maker tape. Luckily, did the work for us and came up with these three versatile sensor designs that would be good for any game, not just pinball. The surface area of the part of the ball that touches is oh-so-small, and you really need to have gravity on your side for best results. We speak from experience when we say that making pinball targets is harder than you might think.

Manual imovie mac1/17/2024 Being a native Mac app, the iMovie download comes from the official Apple Store. If I could just break off from Microsoft completely after this I would, I am that upset. It's easy to download iMovie. They’v done it with iTunes also, every time there’s a major update it becomes less user friendly. omigod!! Microsoft, I am absolutely furious that, having learned how to use the previous version of iMovie, I now have to search for and purchase a different software program and learn how to use it simply to accomplish the same thing. And one of the imovie ‘specialists’ at tech support actually told me he doesn’t use imovie so doesn’t really know all the features…. WHY DISCONTINUE USEFUL FEATURES? Why make an interface LESS user friendly? Not only that, when I upgraded from the previous version, I lost a good deal of my existing projects… Poof!!! gone, not recoverable. 3 calls to tech support to try and figure it out only to find out it will no longer do what I need it to do. I used to create band promo videos with EASE with the previous version, imported audio & video, synced everything up, edited clips, and came out with a good final product… NOW? they have discontinued some of the features and created an entirely new interface. Microsoft just refuses to leave well enough alone when it comes to their software. I spoke to customer support, they asked for details of the video files. My expensive Windows was crushed by my old cheap PC with the free Movie Maker software from Microsoft, in the department Microsoft use to be known by - Video. Within about 2 hours time I had somethng that could be published. After weeks of wasting my time with iMovie, I finally started from scratch on my 2011 Windows PC with non SSD hard drive, using the old Windows Movie Maker software. I made sure it had plenty of memory and CPU available. My Pc is mid 2015 model with the video all on an SSD drive and 8GB ram. When editing for even a minute or so the spinning wheel would begin again. The first thing I noticed is the temp files wiped out about 100gb of space on my drive to store temporary data. I wasted days letting it process my video files which Windows Movie Maker had 0 issues with in the past. I recorded about an hour of 1080p video with my Sony video camera, imported it to my Windows and tried to edit down to about 10 min. How could you possibly screw up so many features in one update? Just take it back to when it was simple and usable, PLEASE.Īs soon as I begin to create videos of any real length over a minute or two, iMovie chokes completely. I exported it, it took FOREVER, then all of the sudden it was only the first 7 seconds of my film. Using the 0.1 second frames (the LOWEST choice I had) it came out to something like 2min 25sec or so. Then it gets worse! How's that even possible? I don't know. Frames are changing back and forth the entire time you watch it. I drop them all in and they come out in the completely wrong order. Even worse though, is that it can’t even get the order correct anymore. Im trying to do a time lapse edit, and Ive always had this issue with iMovie, why can I not play the clips at less than 0.1 sec each? hours of timelaps photos need to be broken down do a minute or two, not 10. I wish I could just go back to the old version. Why the extra step? Its literally there for no reason. Now you have to drag them into these specific folders inside iMovie (at least you can create your own) and from there you can drag them into the editing section. Before, you could just drag whatever videos or photos you wanted straight into the editing section of iMovie off of your desktop, a folder, an external drive, anything. They changed things about it that are very annoying. I can’t get iMovie to do anything correctly anymore since I updated it.

Time out movie1/17/2024 They probably want to test themselves and “Are you in the category that's going to be sensitive to this or not?” It's not quite that situation, thankfully. But again, like you said, it's not like I've been handed my resignation and this is what it is-and it's up in a few months. I don't think they could have grasped the concept or have the understanding, so no. Did you tell them about it, or do you figure that’s something to discuss when they are older? I was offered a version of the episode where we didn't talk about it, and for the exact reason you are mentioning now, I thought, “No, look, if this is a motivator for people to take better care of themselves and also understand that there are steps you can take-then fantastic.” My concern was I just didn't want to manipulate it and overdramatize it, and make it into some sort of hokey grab at empathy or whatever for entertainment. It's all kind of the same tools that need to be applied in a consistent way.īy being public with it, does it tell other people, “These tests are out there. When you have preposition to cardiovascular heart disease, cancer, anything-it's all about sleep management, stress management, nutrition, movement, fitness. I now have to work on this more.” If you look at Alzheimer's prevention, the benefit of preventative steps is that it affects the rest of your life. Like everything in the show I went, “Okay, great. Was it comforting to know? To be able to prepare and try to counter it? It's just the way I am, my family, there's a sense of humor. It was confronting initially, but very quickly it became a self deprecating sort of joke, if you will. Your brothers too? I assume everybody you’re closely related to has to be like, “Is this something I have too?” You said your parents and you had questions. For me, the positive of it was like, “Right, if I didn't know this information, I wouldn't have made the changes I made.” I just wasn't aware of any of it, so now I feel thankful that I have in my arsenal the sort of tools to best prepare myself and prevent things happening in that way. That's where I worked with the death doula and people who worked in palliative care and end of life care and then spoke to a number of people who were at the end of their days or coming upon them-even younger people that were diagnosed with cancer and didn't have long to live. The final episode of the series is not about extending life, but facing death. Then to all of a sudden be told some big indicators are actually pointing to this as the route which is going to happen, the reality of it sinks in. We all have this belief that we'll figure it out. Most of us, we like to avoid speaking about death in the hope that we'll somehow avoid it. It's a placebo effect-or it's taking place! Īnytime you forget something it’s like, “Oh no, is this it?” Since you told me that, I feel like my memory's getting worse. Yeah, it's like one in a thousand people…or one in 10,000. Attia says it makes you eight to 10 times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s in the future. Ten years ago, I think it was more thought of as determinant. It's not a pre-deterministic gene, but it is a strong indication. It was a really good catalyst to dive into everything I needed to be doing in either the prevention front or the management front or however you want to classify it. The show, which initially was an exploration of longevity and, of course, should be fun, became even more relevant and important for me, even more poignant than I ever thought it would be. This isn’t what you expected when you started? I was like, “Am I supposed to be worried? Is this concerning?” I wish I'd had a more intense follow-up with it because I didn't really know what to think. I had a bunch of questions, but no one answered them. They were like, “What was that about?” And I told them, and then they had a bunch of questions. I hung up the phone and my parents were there, at the time. It was a pretty brief conversation, all things considered. We need to have an off-side conversation and see if he even wants this to be in the show.” It was pretty shocking because he called me up and he told me. And Peter Attia, who is the longevity doctor in that episode, and overseeing a lot of the show, called Darren and said, “I don't want to tell him this on camera. Chris Hemsworth: Yeah, they took all my bloodwork and did a bunch of tests and the plan was to on-camera tell me all the results and then talk about how you can improve this and that. |
